Example: a guide priced at USD 600 carries a USD 90 service charge (15%), so you pay USD 690 total — and your guide keeps the full USD 600. On a USD 4,000 trip the charge is capped at USD 400, never more.
The price you agree is yours in full. GuideSL's service charge is paid by the traveller on top — it's never deducted from your payout.
Applying as a guide or driver on GuideSL is completely free. No subscription, no listing fee. You only earn when you complete a tour.
Your payout is settled after the tour is completed, through GuideSL's internal payout system — clean and predictable.
Is there a consultation or booking fee?
No. You pay your guide or driver's agreed price plus a single transparent service charge — there's no separate consultation or booking fee.
What does the service charge cover, and is it capped?
It's 15% of your guide or driver's price, with a minimum of USD 20 and capped at USD 400 — so it's never excessive on larger trips. It funds identity and licence verification, real-time booking and milestone tracking, dispute resolution, and support.
What do guides and drivers earn?
100% of their agreed price. The GuideSL service charge is paid by the traveller on top and is never deducted from the guide or driver's payout.
What currency are prices charged in?
Payments are processed in Sri Lankan Rupees (LKR) at the exchange rate at the time of payment. USD amounts shown are the benchmark used to calculate the LKR charge.
