These Terms govern your use of the GuideSL platform. By creating an account or using our services, you agree to these Terms. Please read them carefully.

GuideSL is available to individuals aged 18 and older who can enter into legally binding contracts under applicable law. By registering an account, you confirm that all information you provide is accurate and that you meet these eligibility requirements. Users registering as guides or drivers must hold valid Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA) or driving credentials where required.
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. You may register using an email address and password, or through supported third-party sign-in providers (currently Google). You agree to notify us immediately at hello@guidesl.com if you suspect unauthorised access. GuideSL reserves the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.
GuideSL operates as an online marketplace that connects tourists seeking authentic local experiences with verified, professional tour guides and drivers across Sri Lanka. Our role is to facilitate this connection — we screen and verify guide and driver credentials, maintain their profiles and reviews, help match each tourist with a suitable guide or driver, and provide the tools to plan, coordinate, and follow a trip. Tourists can submit tour requests, after which our team helps arrange and confirm a booking; coordination takes place both in-platform and over WhatsApp. The price and payment terms for each tour are agreed between the parties and recorded on the platform on a per-tour basis. GuideSL does not itself provide tour or transport services and is not a party to the underlying travel arrangement between a tourist and a guide or driver.
Guides and drivers listed on GuideSL have completed an identity and credential verification process, including submission of national identity documents and valid tourism or driving credentials. This verification confirms identity and credential existence at the time of application — it does not constitute a guarantee of a provider's conduct, service quality, or suitability for any specific tourist's needs. Guides and drivers must maintain accurate and up-to-date profiles, represent their services and experience honestly, treat tourists with professionalism and respect, and comply with all applicable Sri Lankan laws and tourism and transport regulations. Anyone found to be in breach of these obligations may have their account suspended or permanently removed from the platform.
Tourists using GuideSL agree to interact with guides and drivers respectfully and professionally at all times. You agree to provide accurate information when making enquiries or submitting tour requests, to submit only honest and fair reviews based on genuine first-hand experiences, and not to contact guides or drivers for purposes unrelated to legitimate tour services. Tourists are responsible for complying with all local laws, cultural norms, and safety guidance during any tour activity. Abusive, harassing, or fraudulent conduct toward guides or drivers may result in account suspension.
You agree not to: (a) use GuideSL for any unlawful purpose; (b) impersonate any person or entity; (c) manipulate or circumvent the platform's booking or review systems; (d) post false, misleading, or defamatory content; (e) attempt to contact guides or tourists outside of GuideSL for the purpose of booking tours and bypassing the platform; (f) upload content that infringes intellectual property rights or contains malware. Violation of these prohibitions may result in immediate account termination.
By submitting content to GuideSL (including profile information, messages, reviews, and media), you grant GuideSL a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to use, store, and display that content for the purpose of operating and improving the platform. You retain ownership of your content. You are solely responsible for ensuring your content does not violate any third-party rights or applicable laws.
GuideSL is a marketplace platform whose sole role is to connect tourists with verified local guides and drivers. We do not employ guides or drivers, supervise tour activities, or participate in the underlying travel arrangement between a tourist and a guide or driver. To the maximum extent permitted by law, GuideSL shall not be liable for: (a) the quality, safety, or legality of any tour or transport service delivered by a guide or driver; (b) any personal injury, property damage, or loss arising during a tour; (c) the accuracy of any information provided by a guide or driver on their profile; (d) any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from use of the platform. Guide and driver verification confirms identity and credentials at the time of application and does not transfer liability for their actions to GuideSL.
GuideSL reserves the right to update these Terms at any time. Material changes will be notified via email or an in-platform notice at least 14 days before they take effect. Your continued use of GuideSL after the effective date of changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms. If you do not agree, you must discontinue use of the platform.
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Sri Lanka. Any dispute arising from these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Sri Lanka, without prejudice to any mandatory consumer protection rights you may hold in your country of residence.
